What Makes an eBike Safe?
A handful of verifiable factors determine how safe an eBike is: independent safety certification for the bike and battery, brake power adequate for the bike's top speed, visible lighting for road riding, and a way to control or limit speed for less experienced and younger riders.
The Scrambler is certified to UL 2849 for the eBike and UL 2271 for the battery, the two standards most commonly used to evaluate eBike fire and electrical safety. Juiced eBikes also use 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes rather than the single-piston mechanical brakes common on cheaper eBikes, which makes stopping more powerful and more reliable.
Parent Mode gives parents control over how fast a teen can ride. It puts a PIN-protected speed governor on the bike, so it can only go as fast as you feel comfortable with.
How Does Battery Certification Affect eBike Safety?
eBike battery fires, while rare, are most often tied to uncertified or poorly manufactured batteries. UL 2271 certification means a battery has been independently tested for safety under standardized conditions, which is the clearest signal available to a shopper that a battery has been built and tested to a real safety standard.
The Scrambler's battery carries this certification, alongside UL 2849 certification for the complete eBike system.
What's the Safest eBike for You?
Every Scrambler configuration carries the same safety certification, brakes, and lighting. The choice depends on who is riding and how.
- If you want a safety certified eBike at the lowest entry price: The Scrambler HT starts at $1,699 with full UL certification and 4-piston brakes.
- If you want the smoothest, most controlled ride on rough terrain: The Scrambler FS pairs the same safety equipment with added rear suspension for better control on uneven ground.
- If you want a bike with range: The Scrambler HT Dual Battery takes the offroading capability of the HT and adds another battery, doubling range up to 120 miles and making it the perfect bike for long trail rides or camping trips without the worry of running out of charge.
- If a less experienced or younger rider will use the bike: Every Scrambler configuration includes Parent Mode, letting you cap top speed with a PIN-protected limit regardless of which version you choose.
