I’ll start with an update on the much-anticipated HyperScorpion. We’re making great progress with the new electronics system and just added a new key-powered ignition (yes, you will need a key to power the new HyperScorpion). This is a very functional security and anti-theft feature! We were also able to make some adjustments to allow the daytime running lights to be turned on and OFF. The torque pedal assist sensors were tuned for all Scorpion assist settings, and we tuned the cadence-only assist settings. We’ve been spending a lot of time testing the speed and range of the Hyper, and received some encouraging preliminary results!
We’ve also been fine-tuning our production consistency and capacity, making improvements to our packaging, and testing several of the new optional accessories (including the tall seat, passenger kit, cargo and delivery racks)!
Our plan is to begin assembly on the HyperScorpions the first or second week of May, with bikes beginning shipping out to our customers in June!
We were extremely busy this week finishing production (and shipping) both the blue and black Scorpion e-bikes. I’m very happy to report that all of the pre-order black Scorpion e-bikes have shipped and are on their way to our San Diego headquarters! Production of the blue Scorpion is now complete and we’ve been packing the bikes over the last few days, and planning to ship out next week.
Important reminder on the blue Scorpions… the bikes we are shipping next week include traditional spoke wheels. We offered this version during our Indiegogo campaign, and to our pre-order customers up until March 10. The most recent iteration of the blue Scorpion is now available with mag wheels. At this time, we don’t have plans to bring back the spoke wheels for new orders. If you purchased a blue Scorpion during our Indiegogo campaign or on our website before March 10, your bike will come with spoke wheels.
Our current production of Scorpion e-bikes will fulfill ALL Indiegogo orders and pre-orders made through early March, 2020. Because we will have A LOT of e-bikes to ship to our customers in May, we are using a first-ordered/first-shipped processing system so that our earliest backers can receive their bikes as quickly as possible.
