After two long weeks of being quarantined in China, I was finally released last weekend! I’ve had an absolute blast test riding pre-production samples of the HyperScorpion for the last few days! This bike is EPIC and everything I imagined it could be when I began developing this product line more than a year ago.
I’m super pumped to share some of the footage I captured riding the Hyper sample, and the progress in our factory with production of the blue and black Scorpions.
We recently received samples of the all new HyperScorpion electronics with a custom-designed 1000W Bafang motor that required a completely new 12 transistor board (with quite a few accessories). Our testing right now is to confirm that everything is working properly and verifying we can achieve specific performance targets.
With our pre-production HyperScorpion sample, throttle-only performance (no pedaling) reaches just over 30mph on level ground with 30psi stock tires and around 200 lbs (rider + payload). The punch off the line is extremely strong.
This is a very exciting do-it-all e-bike and nothing is coming remotely close to the balance of power, speed, comfort, safety and utility that the HyperScorpion delivers. It’s a blast to ride this bike. In the next few days, we’re working on the torque and cadence pedal assist system and doing everything possible to make up for the two months we lost to the coronavirus.
